A care manager is a professional with a background in social work, medicine, gerontology, or occupational health.

Care managers assist by providing guidance, referrals, advocacy, consulting, and education for clients and families as they navigate the new and often bewildering world of aging.

A Care Manager can help in the following ways:

  • Care managers will attend medical appointments with clients and advocate for needed treatment, procedures, specialty appointments, and more.

  • Care managers often step in for families who are far away and serve as a "point person" between professionals caring for the senior to ensure that all interested parties are kept informed of developing issues.

  • Care managers can assist with navigating confusing insurance questions or help with bill paying.
• Housing
  • Is it time to move someone to a higher level of care? Care managers can help find the right place for their next home.
• Resources
  • Professional care managers have a large network of vetted resources at their fingertips, ranging from financial advisors and elder law attorneys to mobile home salons and pet care.
